Her career in journalism began with Myrtle Beach South Carolina as an anchor and reporter for news with WPDE-TV. In later years, she was employed by WCBD as an anchor in the morning and a crime reporter. Her reporting in Charleston on police leniency towards DUI cases resulted in being the State Law Enforcement Division investigating the cases. Ms. O'Dell won the Best Report of the Media Award South Carolina by the Associated Press. After her time living in Charleston, O'Dell worked as an anchor co-host for the NBC's Miami Station WTVJ-TV as well as an investigative reporter. She then became a part of Access Hollywood to work as an anchor on weekends and weekdays. O'Dell in addition to being the lead anchor for Access Hollywood, also appears on NBC News Today as well Dateline NBC. She has covered major events like The Oscars, The Emmys, The Grammys, and The Golden Globe Awards. In addition to co-hosting Pre-ShowArrivals to The Emmys & The Golden Globes. The host of The Miss America Pageant as well as the Miss USA Pageant and Miss Universe.
